About Us
As the name dictates, Georgia Falzone and Maria Silamianos-Sherman are sisters. Clients always comment about the name, they love it, they love the logo, but the funniest story about the name was Georgia was at a show solo one Saturday and a client came up to Georgia and said, “Oh, you’re selling your sister’s jewelry, she’s going to be so mad . . . . .” We just chuckle at some of the comments. Georgia and Maria have been “crafty” or “artsy” all their lives. At a very young age Georgia sewed, clothing at first, and then drapery. She’s had no formal training, just an incredible eye for color and a knack for putting things together. Both Georgia and Maria also were heavily involved with ceramics. When they made every pot and decorative item possible in their homes, their creations became gifts for others. Georgia also loves arranging flowers and has made some incredible arrangements for herself and others. Her home is an example of her ability to combine beautiful warm colors and have a cohesive beautiful warm environment.
Maria loved crafts and art as well. For her it started with knitting. When her “yiayia” came from Greece, she would either sit on her lap or very close to her to learn her craft. She would watch as her yiayia would meticulously loop the strand of yarn or silk around the hook and bring it in and out of the creation making gorgeous bedspreads, runners, doilies, etc. Maria’s first creation was a white sweater she’d knit and from there it was afghans, she was always crocheting and many people were beneficiaries of her craft. From there it was ceramics as well. Maria loved the crazier geometric, contemporary shapes and loved the splashes of color it would bring in her home. After the ceramics came sketching and using watercolors. She loved to sketch wildflowers or florals and loved the undisciplined splashes of color once it was on her canvas.
Several years ago, Georgia began jewelry making. Georgia made several items for herself and many gifts for others. She instantly had a “knack” for it and loved the colors. Georgia has an eye for sophistication. She loves the different materials and loves to combine them with Swarovski crystals. One of her favorite things to do is dress brides and her bridesmaids with jewelry and her pieces and designs makes for a beautiful wedding party. Maria saw what her sister was doing and had that “hey, I’d love to do that too” response. After a couple classes Maria began making many “out of the box” type designs. Maria, much like her sketches, loves the undisciplined and goes for texture. Her favorite material to work with is sterling silver combined with gemstones such as amethyst, garnet, citrine, etc.
Together Georgia and Maria make an exceptional team at “My Sisters Jewelry” as their creations are as diverse as their personal look or personalities. Georgia has a flare for sophistication and beauty while Maria has a tendency to go towards the undisciplined and contemporary. With their two distinct personalities and eye for creating, you will certainly find something you will absolutely love at “My Sister’s Jewelry.”
